On Saturday, December 11 from 12 – 7 PM, drop off an unwrapped toy in two convenient sites – the entrances of Target (1050 Huntington Drive) and Walmart (1600 Mountain Avenue) in Duarte. Those who chose to donate at the Duarte Target location will also have an opportunity to take a free photo with Santa Claus and bring their personal gifts to be wrapped by DART youth volunteers for FREE!
The City’s Parks and Recreation Department is monitoring Santa’s Mailbox this holiday season. Santa’s Mailbox will be located in the City Hall Courtyard. Be sure your letter includes your name, address, and phone number, as they will be forwarded to the North Pole and Santa will write back!
Join us for Duarte’s annual Holiday Tree Lighting! Bring your family and friends to this free community event that will feature holiday entertainment and musical performances, crafts for kids, light refreshments and hot chocolate, and a special visit from Santa Claus. At 8 PM, City Council and Santa will flip the switch to light up Duarte’s new tree, so come early for parking!
“Tis the season to decorate your home or business!” Residents and businesses are encouraged to get in the spirit and enter the City’s annual Holiday Decorating Contest. To enter, email duarteparksactive@ accessduarte.com with your name/business name, address, and contact number by December 10th. In light of the rise in COVID-19 cases and after careful consideration, the City of Duarte and Duarte Unified School District have decided to cancel this year’s in-person Martin Luther King Jr, Remembrance event scheduled for Thursday, January 13 at 9:45 AM at Falcon Field.
However, we invite the public to celebrate the service and impact of Dr. King’s life by visiting the City’s YouTube Channel on Monday, January 17th for some special video tributes.
