FRIENDS OF THE DUARTE LIBRARY TO HOST SPECIAL SCREENING OF DOCUMENTARY BEAUTY BITES BEAST, WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 21

The Friends of the Duarte Library would like to welcome the Duarte Community to a special free screening of the documentary film, Beauty Bites Beast on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at the Duarte Senior Center, located at 1610 Huntington Drive Duarte, CA 91010.  Co-sponsored by the City of Duarte, State Senator Anthony J. Portantino, Assembly member Blanca E. Rubio, LA County Supervisor Kathryn Barger and the Duarte Chamber of Commerce, this special screening includes a reception with light refreshments starting at 5:30 pm followed by the film screening from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.   Director Ellen Snortland will conduct a Q&A and book signing from 8:00 pm to 8:30 pm immediately after the film’s conclusion.

Beauty Bites Beast written and directed by Ellen Snortland and co-produced by Ken Gruberman, touches on the important and timely topic of ending violence towards women and girls. This film illustrates some of the world’s dangers and risks and demonstrates for women tools to both defend and empower themselves. Beauty Bites Beast’s mission is to “normalize” these tools as a human need and right for all women.
