Duarte Welcomes New City Manager Daniel Jordan

The Duarte City Council unanimously voted Daniel Jordan as its next City Manager during its regular meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, February 11, 2020.

"I am honored to be selected as the next Duarte City Manager," said Jordan. "The Duarte community is one of a kind; I intend to work closely in collaboration with both the City Council and staff to preserve its proud tradition as the City of Health as we transition into the next decade."

During its current fiscal emergency, Jordan brings a strong financial background to the community serving as Finance Director in both La Cañada Flintridge and most recently, Westlake Village. During his tenure in Westlake Village, he also served as Interim City Manager during their most recent City Manager recruitment process. 

The City Council approved a 15-month employment agreement for Jordan, effective immediately with at start date of March 3, 2020; the same day Duarte voters consider Measure D, a ¾ cent local sales tax increase. Jordan’s annual salary will begin at $210,000, and he will receive a standard benefits package that includes health insurance, three weeks’ annual vacation, administrative leave, membership in the PERS retirement system (2% @ 60) and an auto allowance. Severance provisions are consistent with the Duarte Municipal Code. 

Daniel earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Government from UC Irvine, and both a Master’s Degree in Public Policy Analysis and a Doctor of Philosophy, PhD. in Political Science from Claremont Graduate University. Jordan, a lifelong resident of the San Gabriel Valley, has a deep appreciation for its unique culture, social and political fabric and lives locally with his wife and three sons.
